Do Good

Since the end of apartheid in 1994, there is an internationally acknowledged need for broader and more effective participation among black people within the South African economy.  The ISAW Foundation was organized to assist South Africa in the transformative movement already reshaping the professional landscape.  We have taken a niche focus within the wine industry the ISAW Foundation aims to:

  • Enable meaningful and effective participation of black people within the South African economy by developing their skills;
  • Increase employment and income distribution through fair wage compensation;
  • Provide professional development through trade curriculum and training;
  • Diversify the racial composition, ownership and management structure of the wine industry;
  • Build lasting relationships to establish partnerships/cooperatives for collective enterprises;
  • Invest in Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs; and
  • Support producers with socially responsible business practices.

With these objectives accomplished, ISAW’s mission of social transformation will transcend the wine industry into the South African economy as a whole.  While viticulture may be the catalyst, we view the broader scope of the project as one ingrained in human rights and social equality.

The ISAW Institute:  The ISAW Foundation is working towards the acquisition of a viticultural training center and wine estate in the Western Cape of South Africa.  The vision for the ISAW Institute is a functioning winery that enables workers to learn and participate in the entire process of managing and operating a winery, from farming to global export. Workers will experience a vertically integrated education that will provide them with specialized skills to increase their earning potential and add value to prospective employers. For some, it may even be a stimulus for entrepreneurship or cooperative ventures.  The Institute will benefit from selling the wine produced during this educational process to message and fundraise on behalf of the Foundation.
